Greenwell Springs, LA Greenwell Springs, LA Full-time Full-time From $65,000 a year From $65,000 a year 5 days ago 5 days ago 5 days ago MANAGEMENT JOB DESCRIPTION HR Specialist PURPOSE The position of HR Specialist performs support and administrative activities for the human resources department in the functional areas of benefits administration, recruiting and retention, onboarding, and maintenance of the HR information systems.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL DUTIES Coordinate and execute staff meeting agenda, minutes, and scheduling.
Perform annual motor vehicle record searches.
Update and reconcile biweekly 401(k) contributions and loan payments in a timely manner.
Coordinate timely renewal of employee medical examiner certification requirements for CDL licensed drivers, update all internal records accordingly, and ensure compliance with the Office of Motor Vehicle's reporting requirements.
Scan and maintain personnel records.
Review, finalize, and process accident and injury reports.
Manage employee suggestion and recognition programs.
Send out employee notices such as birth announcements, longevity anniversaries, and funeral arrangements.
Assist with fleet vehicle registrations.
Plan and coordinate business trips and/or meetings for department staff.
Coordinate renewals of employee DOT physicals and ensure compliance with Office of Motor Vehicle's CDL driver reporting requirements.
Maintain and update DEMCO Intranet.
Respond to verbal and written verifications of employment.
Coordinate special events, such as the annual luncheons, health and benefits expo, and other Cooperative sponsored social events.
Revise and proofread policies and procedures and other documents as needed.
Update and distribute internal office phone directory, office signage, and interoffice mailbox labels.
Order office supplies and distribute mail for department staff.
Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and other correspondence, and manage or participate in special projects as needed.
Maintain confidentiality in all activities ensuring the privacy of DEMCO personnel.
Other duties as assigned.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct compensation and benefits surveys.
Assist in the evaluation and classification of occupations and job descriptions.
Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, State and local employment, discrimination and labor laws.
Assist in emergency outage restoration efforts as directed and outlined in the Emergency Response Plan.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field required.
Active CEBS, SPHR/PHR, and/or SHRM-CP certification required.
EXPERIENCE Minimum three to five years of experience in human resources.
